Old Bloke On An Old Bike

The story of the restoration of a 1950s classic bicycle for a Land's End – John O'Groats charity ride in aid of Alzheimer's Society

Land’s End to John O’Groats (LEJoG)

Landsend

Land’s End is at the extreme south-western tip of mainland Britain and John O’Groats is at the extreme north-east. The straight-line distance is 603 miles (970 km) but the shortest route by road is believed to be 814 miles (1,310 km).

Cycling on motorways is illegal, so a practical cycle route is at least 850 miles. Since I don’t have a death-wish, I’ll also be avoiding fast trunk roads, so my route will be longer still – probably around 1,000 miles. The blog will cover the planning of the route.
