The story of the restoration of a 1950s classic bicycle for a Land's End – John O'Groats charity ride in aid of Alzheimer's Society
I am assured by my friends in PR (who are not numerous) that every serious enterprise needs a logo. So here it is, cunningly constructed from two letters “O” in Garamond Italic font and a letter “S” in Lucida Handwriting. Neat, eh? And it gives the impression I’ll be storming up those hills.
But what to do with it? (No vulgar suggestions, please.) I’ll need a suitably retro jersey for the ride, so I commissioned a company called Jura to print my beautiful new logo on a rather nice cycling jersey made in Italy from Australian Merino wool. This is the rather splendid result. I hope it might generate some interest and prompt a few people to donate to the cause while the ride is in progress. The first outing for the jersey will be at the Eroica Britannia festival this June.
Merino wool jerseys are very nice to wear for cycling. They keep you cool and dry and I don’t find them as itchy as I had expected. But they’re not cheap, of course.
