The story of the restoration of a 1950s classic bicycle for a Land's End – John O'Groats charity ride in aid of Alzheimer's Society
The Ellis-Briggs will face her first serious test in June, at the Eroica Britannia – a wonderful festival for vintage (pre-1987) bikes, held in Bakewell Derbyshire.
There are three routes – 30, 55 and 100 miles. My nerve failed me, so I’ve entered for the intermediate 55-mile ride, which is going to be quite challenging. The route involves quite a bit of climbing and almost a third of it is off-road. Perhaps I’d better use the wheels built with modern rims rather than the authentic Airlite/Constrictor wheels.
It will be wonderful…
