A long day: 86 miles from Aviemore to Lairg, bringing the total so far to nearly 950 miles.
The day started with a climb into rain and freezing cold headwind, and ended with a descent into rain and freezing cold headwind. Both equally horrible.
In between, it was a day of firths – I crossed the Beauly/Moray Firth at Inverness, the Cromarty Firth at Conon Bridge and the Dornoch Firth at Bonar Bridge. They’re really beautiful, but the problem with firths is that you have to descend to sea level to cross each one, and then climb over the hills separating it from the next one. It was a tough day and I’m very tired tonight.
An easier 50-mile ride to the north coast tomorrow…

I know the country you are in now, pretty well and wondering where you might be be staying on your last night. Tongue/Bettyhill area? Altnahara is a stop used by a lot of LEJOG walkers and cyclists, but probably too far south for you,
