The story of the restoration of a 1950s classic bicycle for a Land's End – John O'Groats charity ride in aid of Alzheimer's Society
I have to admit to a mistake I made two years ago. When I originally set up this blog and the charity appeal for Alzheimer’s Society, the fundraising target I had in mind was £650 – which I thought there was some chance of reaching. But, when I set up the JustGiving page, I mis-typed the amount as £6500 (I am a shockingly bad typist) and then couldn’t see how to amend the target I had entered. So the fundraising target has remained as the much more challenging figure of £6,500.
Well, as of 30 July 2016, the total of donations received stands at:
This is far in excess of what I dreamed was possible, and over half of the mis-typed target.
I want to thank the 77 people who have made such generous contributions to the appeal. It isn’t possible to thank you all individually, but I am really grateful. I hope you’ve enjoyed reading the blog as much as I’ve enjoyed writing it.
But it will continue! The appeal remains open, so if you’ve been meaning to contribute but haven’t got round to it yet, it’s not too late.
And I’ve decided that the £6,500 target must eventually be reached, so I’m contemplating various oldblokeoldbike-related possibilities for more fundraising activities in the future. Watch this space…
