The story of the restoration of a 1950s classic bicycle for a Land's End – John O'Groats charity ride in aid of Alzheimer's Society
We’ve all arrived safely in Penzance, despite a scare over a delay to Eric’s flight from Sweden.
So the plan is this – breakfast at 7.00, then Ruth drives me and the two bikes to Land’s End and comes back to collect Eric and run him to Land’s End. By which time, I have the bikes all prepared. Take a few photos, get the first stamp in my record sheet for the trip, and then we’ll be off by about 10.00.
First stage destination is the County Arms, Highertown, Truro. I hope it’ll be a gentle first day – about 40 miles, but quite hilly:
My new GPS thingummy claims to be able to generate live updates on Garmin Connect, and also tweet a summary of the track at the end of the day. I’ll see if I can make that work tomorrow. Watch this space…
Good luck Steve
