Old Bloke On An Old Bike

The story of the restoration of a 1950s classic bicycle for a Land's End – John O'Groats charity ride in aid of Alzheimer's Society

16 Jun 2016: Stage 5 completed

Continuing alone, I managed to dodge the thunderstorms and cover the 65 miles to Ross-on-Wye without further problems.

It was really beautiful, the route passing through 4 counties: Somerset, Gloucestershire, Monmouthshire and Herefordshire. This Welsh border/Forest of Dean area is lovely, even in the rain.

The crossing of the rivers Severn and Wye into Chepstow in Monmouthshire was over the old Severn road bridge…

Loss of my riding partner is really sad, but progress is on schedule. Altogether, 286 miles covered, or a bit over a quarter of the total. Fingers crossed for the rest of the trip!
