The story of the restoration of a 1950s classic bicycle for a Land's End – John O'Groats charity ride in aid of Alzheimer's Society
Today is going to be difficult. We have to do 63 miles to Ross-on-Wye. In good weather it’s not easy – we have to go over the Mendips, cross the Severn Bridge and do plenty of climbing near the Wye valley.
But there’s also a severe weather warning from the Met Office, with high probabilities of very heavy slow-moving rainstorms.
To make things worse, I made a stupid decision and agreed to let the bikes be stored in a place that can’t be unlocked before 8am – so it’s a late start and we’re missing some of the dry weather.
We may have to resort to a plan B.
A good breakfast should help…
